What are Dental Veneers?

How are veneers and crown different?

Crowns also known as caps cover the entire whereas veneers only cover the front portion of the tooth. For the preparation of crown a substantial amount of tooth is needed to be reduced whereas in veneers it doesn’t require such drastic prep work, only 1mm from the region. Caps are more of a therapeutic treatment and veneers are considered as cosmetic treatment.

What is the process of getting a veneer?

A veneer procedure is usually 3 step process. FIRST is to get a consultation with a dentist to know about all the process in veneer treatment. The dentist will explain you all about veneers and might prescribe you for a full mouth x-ray and take impression of your teeth.
In the SECOND appointment the dentist will prepare the tooth for the veneers. In this process your dentist might make that area numb for your comfort. Afterwards Temporary veneers are placed which will be replaced by the permanent ones in the third appointment.
In the THIRD appointment the temporary veneers are removed and the permanents are tried to examine the fit and color before it’s permanently attached. The veneers might be trimmed a bit to achieve a perfect fit. Then the veneers are fixed and bonded to your teeth.
